Gulab Jaman

If you have a sweet tooth and looking for a traditional Asian dessert then this soft and juicy gulab jaman recipe is ideal for you.


1. Dried milk powder 1 cup
2. Ghee 1 tbsp
3. Flour 2 tbsp
4. Cream 2 tbsp
5. Baking powder 1 1/2 tsp
6. Egg 1
7. Cardamon powder 1 tsp


  1. Sift flour and baking powder.
  2. Add dried milk in it.
  3. Add ghee, egg and cream and cardimon powder.
  4. Mix well and make a dough.
  5. knead well for eight minutes.
  6. Make small one inch balls.
  7. heat oil on low flame.
  8. Add balls in it when it is moderately hot on low flame.
  9. when the balls float on the surface on oil, increase heat a bit.
  10. Take out when light brown.
  11. Put them into the syrup immediately.
  12. Poke each with fork.

For syrup:
1. Sugar 1 1/2 cup
2. Water 1 cup

For syrup:

1. Combine sugar with water and boil till it is relatively thickens.
2. Add cardimons for flavor.

Enjoy hot or cold!

    i made it today it was good in taste but,
    One thing I did wrong was that I added 4 tbsp of flour instead.
    so, the balls couldnt rise (phooli)
    but taste was good.

      Oho, flour adds to the texture of anything, so if you accidently add too much flour, the gulab jaman won’t be as soft as they are suppose to be and if too scant well, they won’t take shape then. Be careful next time.

      Sometimes you just gotta follow the recipe from beginning to end and always read the instructions carefully before measuring.
